My sons and I are pretty decent with bugs, but something about the wife causes her to completely freak out around spiders. Can't say why that is. Although, a milipede? I don't know about that; that might cause even me to get a bit squirmy. You have quite an adventurous girl there. A worm, that's cool. I found myself explaining the circle of life once when we saw a pile of ants devouring a fallen bird.

(NukeDad) She's always been fearless with bugs, not sure how long it will stay that way, though.

Just last night I had a 17 year old daughter come screaming out of the bathroom because she saw a spider. In the sink. "Here honey, just wash it down the drain." "Oh" was all she said...

(NukeDad) Yeah, but; "The itsy-bitsy spider went up the drain again..."

Your wife sounds a lot like mine.... she once called me at work to come home to kill a wasp that ventured into the house.

At least your daughter seems comfortable with the creepy crawlers.

(NukeDad) NukeMom has been known to achieve a 48 inch vertical leap if the bug is big enough. NukeGirl is comfortable now, we'll see if it lasts.

Some explanations are best delayed as long as possible. File this one under: Santa, the Tooth Fairy and the Circle of Life.

Reminds me of my middle son when he was about 8 with "Junior" the firefly. And his sister, "Violet"

I am impressed with how brave Nuke Girl is!

(NukeDad) She is very brave; bugs don't bother her at all, except, of course, spiders.

Nukegirl didn't actually see the robin grab it's lunch right? That would just be too painful - and might cause her to feel a need to keep all the little creatures in a shoe box in her room for safety sake. And really who wants to find that? Kudos to her bravery!

(NukeDad) No, she didn't see the carnage, but I think we'd be ok with the shoebox under the bed too.

How proud you must be of Nuke Girl! I'm thinking she might be Super Girl! I'm not in her league. You would have heard me screaming where you live.
Wormy and the burping robin . . . circle of life indeed, with a little humor tossed in.

(NukeDad) I hear you, that's why I was hiding under the table.
