I generally refrain from all political discussion, but I'm going to break with tradition here: I love the listing of criminal activities by Congress (if only those not committed on the clock that is!). A great many Americans might find that their representative are truly a representation of them. DUI, domestic violence, drugs, theft? That segment of society is really not who I want running the country! (I realize there are more Americans every day who don't meet American Express's standards, but I'd be willing to bet that the actions (or lack thereof) of Congress have a fair bit to do with that.

(NukeDad) I'm just glad that people are starting to realize that those in Congress aren't above it all. Now, if we can only get the Congress to see it too.

Politicians make my eyes glaze over. I don't believe a word that comes out of their mouths, or the side of their mouths. Frustrated. Oh Yes! I've been trying to become more aware of who backs whom. I know when I'm voting, I'm not really voting for the pol, but their backers. I want to know who's in the inner circle.
I love the idea of voting everyday with my purchasing decisions.
But, Versace or Halston? You've got to be kidding! My closet screams, "It was on sale! It was made in America!"

(NukeDad) My Dad used to say; "Believe nothing that you hear, and half of what you see." Pretty good advice. My closet screams; "Wal-Mart shoe section!", but I'm OK with that. ;)

Excellent point. This is one of my favorite things about the United States, that our system does work exactly that way: we, as the masses of consumers, have immense power. Whatever we collectively fix our minds to, we can bring about.

Personally, I am fixing my mind to the development of that flying car they promised us back in the sixties.

(NukeDad) Ha! The flying car, huh? I'm still waiting for the Pan Am flights up to the Space Wheel.

Very interesting read.

If it makes you feel any better - UK politics is in a state of apocalypse. A newspaper got hold of a complete list of our politician's expenses and published them. It has been very clever and drip fed one or two every day. Highlights include claiming from taxpayers money for mortgages that have already been paid off, the cleaning of a moat at a personal residence, and the purchase of a duck table for a pond (which was not on show at the residence in question, and had apparently been moved to the politicians other home in France -as you do!)

Unbelievable story see full details here: http://tinyurl.com/o8e648

(NukeDad) I'd read a little bit about the UK scandal, but it looks like I'll have to read some more! I guess corruption in politics is a global phenomenon. Thanks for stopping by! I'll have to stop by and give you a visit!

Great post! You're exactly right; it's time that everybody start thinking about the smaller ways to "vote".

Versace or Halston? That made me giggle.

(NukeDad) Well? Which is it?
