About a year ago I weened myself off the joe and went decaf. It’s nice cause I actually really enjoy a cup now and then, and now it’s no big deal if I don’t get one because I no longer fear those I-have-a-crashing-headache-because-the-coffee-monkey-in-my-head-is-crying, days.

(Now If I can just stop eating those damn Starbucks muffins I’ll really be free…)

(NukeDad) Glad to hear that you escaped the clutches of the beast. I still don’t know why the craving hit me so hard; or why after 4 days it was gone. I’ll stick with the occasional cup of joe and try and cut back on the DP.

I get sick if I have too much caffeine, though I suspect it might be a combo of sugar and caffeine since I had a ton of iced tea made with splenda and it did not kill me. I eliminated pretty much all caffeine from my diet when I started getting sick on it, Doc was quite pleased that I am all decaf so he didn't have to try to convince me to stop ingesting it when my GI problems started. Had they not stopped making Mr. Pibb he might have had a fight on his hands though, it was the only cola type soda I liked, stupid pibb extra crap! (NukeDad) The restaurant I worked at carried Pibb instead of DP and I remember when they made the switch to Pibb Extra. I like the sweet stuff (obviously) but even I had time adjusting to it. Coffee in my house is a neccessity. It's the most important food group we have. If I could figure how to interveinously hook myself up to a pot I would... I too fall into non-coffee drinker caffeine junkie category. I've never even tasted it. I can't stand the smell. Every now and then I feel left out of the cult of coffee, so I go into and order a hot chocolate, mostly when I'm on a retrieval run for the Sugarmomma. I always come out thinking, I could have bought a couple of cases of soda for that much...... Plus the crack of opening a cold can is just so satisfying...... (NukeDad) We are totally misunderstood, aren't we? Not everyone understands that a DP and a Snickers bar is just as much breakfast to us, as their coffee and danish are to them.
