Almost As Good As A Cup Of Coffee

While putting NukeGirl’s socks on for her today, she looked up at my shirt and said; “Daddy, what does your shirt say?” “It says ‘World’s Best Dad’, honey”. She looked at me with wide eyes and open mouth and exclaimed; “YOU’RE THE BEST DADDY IN THE WHOLE WORLD? AWESOME! How did you win that?” She was so completely convinced that I had won some huge designation as World’s Best Dad that I didn’t have the heart to tell her that it was just a T-shirt. I think I’ll bask in the adulation for awhile. It reminded me of another innocent soul who still doesn’t know the ways of the world: Buddy the Elf. Enjoy.

You did it! Congratulations! Worlds Best Dad! Great Job NukeDad! It was great to meet you!
(NukeDad) I knew I could count on you! Did you travel through the 7 levels of the swirly, curly blogdrops to get here?

That is awesome. And way better than if she had said “How did you win THAT?” in that smarmy teenager voice.
Enjoy the warm fuzzies!
(NukeDad) I’ll take them as long as she still young enough to give them out without the expectation of reciprocity (teen girl slang for cash).

I need to see “Elf.” I never have. I hear it’s funny and sweet, which appeals to me at Christmas.
Hope your family has an outstanding Christmas, NukeDad!
(NukeDad) Thanks, Muskrat! Right back at cha! You definitely need to see Elf. It’s Animal House for the dwarf set.

I also have not seen that movie and have been informed it should be on my list along with several (ok fine, 100′s) more other must see movies. You are the world’s best daddy to those three cuties of yours!
(NukeDad) Thanks, Karen. You HAVE to see Elf. You’ll laugh your butt off.

How did you win that? (That’s when I fell off my chair. Kids say the darndest things.)
(NukeDad) She has 2 older brothers, so most everything ends up being a competition. They battle to see who is the first to give NukeMom a kiss and hug when she gets home from work. Sometimes it ends up turning into Friday Night Smackdown.

Somewhere out there in the world, a former World’s Best Dad is frantically looking for his T-shirt and muttering “I can’t be deposed! I just can’t!”
Hang on to your title, dude, as long as your kids will let you.
(NukeDad) It’ll be a battle to the death!

VegasDad
I want to win one too.
(NukeDad) You’re well on your way, Vegas Dad! If it doesn’t happen for you by May, go to Wal-Mart. I think they’re 7 or 8 bucks. I bought 2.

Everyone should see Elf. It is in my books an instant classic and my kids watch it year-round. I just finished watching it with my girls for the 6th time this week. Go Buddy!
(NukeDad) They had to beg me to watch it the first time. I guess I just thought it wouldn’t be that good. Boy, was I wrong. It’s right up there with A Christmas Story for me. I bought that movie in ’85 before the 24 hour stuff started. Still love it, but they’re kinda killing it; just like It’s A Wonderful Life in the 80′s when it was on 40 channels at the same time from October thru New Years. Is this a comment response, or a post? Better boogie.
