Congrats, sounds like a great opportunity! My dad was self-employed and worked from home for much of my childhood and it was great to come home from school and have my daddy there. Bit of a transition for all of us when he got a job outside the home, he made a lot more but the price was not being around as much.

I hate spongebob, even before Niecey was born, so of course she loves that stupid show. The bank in the Jewel I worked for had a spongebob promotion and they were located very close to the deli and had these TV's with clips of the show playing in a loop. One was a screaming clip, that character has one of the most obnoxious screams. I have no idea how the bank workers could stand it, one of my coworkers finally had enough, marched up to the bank and turned the volume way down so we couldn't hear it. They were smart and didn't stop her nor turn it back up, the deli is one of the best armed departments in the store...

(NukeDad) I love me some Spongebob, but I think that would have driven me crazy also.

Welcome to the dark side! Good thing we live far apart because working from home near another guy who works from home means beer for lunch, a three hour lunch. And video games. With beer.

(NukeDad) The only thing that would make it better is if we worked for a beer company. Oh, wait, I did that once already. Trust me, the free beer doesn't offset the 70 hour work weeks.

I'm starting a new job next week on the same day that my youngest starts kindergarten. It's going to be a VERY emotional day.

(NukeDad) Looks like you and I will be in the same boat. By emotional, do you mean you're going to jump for joy, or cry like a baby?

My advice, just use a few simple phrases throughout the day:
Get our ducks in a row
Delta
Take this offline
All on the same page
Reinvent the wheel
Last but not least (use this one often until the economy improves): High class problems

Oh, and if they catch you sleeping at your desk, open your eyes rapidly, snap your fingers and say "I just had a great idea for..." You fill in the rest.

You'll kill it. I mean KILL it. Congratulations.

(NukeDad) Thanks, Matt! I'll pack all of those away in my cliche bank!

Good luck in this new adventure. I returned to work after being a SAHM for 12 years. It was a strange transition, but it's been great getting to talk to adults all day.

(NukeDad) Thanks, Tara! That's what I'm looking forward to.

Congrats man. Good thing you got a job in this economy. That's not an easy thing to do.

(NukeDad) And people said my pole dancing class wouldn't pay off...

Congrats on the new job!

I can't even imagine going back to work. Luckily my littlest is still home for another year. And then I plan on letting my hubs know that I do in fact deserve a year of sitting on the couch eating bon bons. I just have to work on my master plan for after that.

(NukeDad) I think you deserve it too. Just be careful with the bon bons. I did that and now my nickname is "The bon bon boom boom".

That's great! And, not in the restaurant biz either! I can definitely attest to the fact that there are other topics of conversation out there in the world other than SpongeBob and his ilk. Just throw the name "Michael Phelps" around a few times and you'll be in there.

(NukeDad) Should I be wearing a Speedo when I mention his name?

Wow! Congratulations on the new job! And you've got the best of both worlds since you can work from home...I'm hoping that your organizational skills far exceed mine. I'm really happy for you!

And don't worry, you can always count on me to tell you to shut the hell up. That's what friends are for! LOL

(NukeDad) Thanks, Melisa, I've got my "How to Stay Organized" book right here; let's see...it's around here somewhere....
